How does RAS® work?

No, installing RoadActive Suspension (or any other rear suspension helper) does not automatically void the factory warranty. The Magnuson Moss Act states that it is illegal for a vehicle manufactuer or dealership to void a warranty just because a part has been installed. The manufacturer or dealership may only void the warranty if they are able to prove the aftermarket part caused or contributed damage to the vehicle. Even then, warranty to the impacted component(s) is the only portion of the warranty that may be voided. In this case, all other parts of the vehicle remain under warranty.

Purchased RAS after taking a road trip with my family. My truck bed was experiencing some sag as the bed was loading with camping equipment including a truck cap with rooftop tent. There is a fair amount of body roll on the 3rd gen stock Tacoma as well as a need for a bit of leveling. With the RAS kit, there is far less body roll and driving is much more stable. I’m not experiencing any more sag either. Highly recommend if you want an affordable solution to beef up your suspension outside of changing out the leaf springs or adding reservoir shocks.

2020 Tacoma TRD Pro with an aluminum bed topper, great truck but it was bottoming out a lot while towing my mini camper (Intech Pursue) and I also have full aluminum skids and steel rock sliders on my truck.
Once I put my Road Active Suspension and set my spring tension to around 30%, my truck rear raised 2.5" and it once again sits like a truck and tows and drives so much better now!

I have the 2022 TRD Offroad with axle below leaf springs. Also have the rough country leveling kit, which gave my truck the slight squat look.
Installing RAS was a breeze, all needed was jack stands, jack and basic hand tools.
I definitely noticed the ride and performance right away. Driving feels more solid when turning and going over bumpy roads and definitely got rid of the rear squat. Will be giving it load test this weekend with some ice fishing gear and track sled. Thank you for a great product!

I’ve put a RAS on my last two trucks and I’ll keep being a customer for the foreseeable.
I don’t tow, but I do haul with my truck and the RAS allows me to maintain better control on wet mountain roads with a full load in the back.
I hauled before my RAS and it felt like I was fighting the steering wheel the entire time, now, it feels like a drive in the park.
Yeah, it raised the rear a bit, and yeah, sometimes the suspension feels a bit stiff, but the comfort and security I feel doing hairpin turns while dropping elevation is worth every bit of the experience.

I love my truck, but as anyone would know Tacomas aren't really built to tow much.
This RAS system is "the answer" to that, it made a world of difference towing my river sled with the squating and especially the handling. As well with my Lone Peak canopy camper that weights about 400lbs with all my gear another 250-350lbs, no more squat at all, even on the lower setting.
A lot of youtube videos do not give as much credit as should be given to the handling improvement. My Taco handles like a sports car when empty and not towing. It didn't drive like that at all before RAS.

I first bought the original RAS back in 2004 for my 2004 Toyota Tacoma V6 2wd Extra Cab. Recently I needed to have suspension work done and decided to purchase the current version. This version was user friendly and much easier to install since you did not need to remove and put back any of the suspension parts. Just bolt on and done! They are way beefier than I had imagined. I am very pleased with them. On the 40% setting, it raised my truck about an inch, which helped compensate for my 225lb topper, that was making it bottoming out, so I installed rubber springs, which caused it to bounce to much, and these RAS fixed both the lift, picked it up off of the rubber springs and helped massively on the bounce. Plus the option for the lifetime warranty is a major plus.

I was behind a F150 on the freeway that rolled/hit a large pothole with the left wheels. The front suspension took it well, but once the rear left tire went over that rough pothole, the trucks backend immediately jumped right. My Tacoma stood straight as an arrow!!!!! What can I say, I added a Decked draw storage system to my truck 200lbs, which made the truck squat about 2” in hieght. Handling changed, I was looking at new leaf springs or airbags to get the ride back to factory. I found RAS, installed them, BTW easy to install, no hose to route. I recovered my handling issue and the truck ride has improved over factory ride.

I had researched the RAS system a couple years ago and put it on the back burner. I totally wish I hadn’t. I have a 2016 Toyota Tacoma. In the winter I add sandbags for better handling in the snow and ice. The truck rode not great before weight then added sand and hammers like tank. I finally purchased the RAS system in hopes for a change in ride quality. Well, the verdict is in.. Holy Shit! This truck is a complete new ride. Totally transformed this trucks ride. I installed the RAS on my 1999 Toyota Tacoma extra cab. This is a plain Jane 2 wd, not a Prerunner. It is my work truck, and I carry around 800+ pounds of transfer fuel tank and tools. The weight rating for the car is a little over 1500 pounds. Even with about 300 pounds, the vehicle's rear starts to sag. The installation was straightforward; it took me about an hour to complete because I had to remove one side of the rear leaf spring bracket. In order to slide the RAS over the leaf spring (P/ RAS instructions ). I used the black disc/spacer for the maximum adjustment.
In conclusion, the truck sits level with the weight or without. The ride handling is the part that surprised me the most. The ride handling is much better, absolutely not my imagination; It is firm and stable, not bumpy or floaty with or without the weight. This is the money well spent on my part and highly recommended. RAS System # 452-ST.

Did a 6 inch Rough Country lift kit and my rear end started sagging drastically. I heard this was a cheaper alternative that replacing my leaf springs completely, and that was correct! Adjusted my rear bed about 2” to get rid of the horrible sag caused by the Rough Country lift! Also, my truck feels more stable, no more axle wrap when you take off, and I can haul more! I ordered the RAS kit for my 2022 Toyota Tacoma and I am 100% satisfied with it. I installed it myself in about an hour and a half, the first hour or so was figuring out how it all set up properly and then it took me about 20 minutes to do the other side. Length of Coverage
Except as provided below, RoadActive Suspension, Inc. offers the following duration:
1. RoadActive Suspension, Inc. kits and their components are warrantied in the United States and Canada against defects in workmanship and materials for five (5) years following installation on the vehicle for which the kit is purchased.
2. The Warranty is terminated immediately when you transfer ownership of the vehicle to a second party, or it is used for a purpose not intended, regardless of your consent and/or if the product is installed on a second vehicle, regardless of when the second installation takes place. Because of these provisions, the Warranty is not transferable.
Authorized Sellers Only
Warranty coverage applies only to products purchased directly from RoadActive Suspension, Inc. or from an authorized RAS dealer or retailer. Purchases made from unauthorized resellers or third-party sellers (including online marketplaces) may not qualify for warranty coverage.
Obligations
RoadActive Suspension, Inc. shall be limited to replacing or repairing, free of charge, any part or parts that reasonably appear to us upon inspection to have been defective in material and/or workmanship. You will be responsible for the cost of transportation charges and any charges in connection with reinstallation of the defective parts.
Exclusions and Limitations
The limited Warranty does not cover and RoadActive Suspension, Inc. will not be held responsible for any costs or injury you sustain by reason of the following:
1. Parts and labor necessary for removal, reinstallation, vehicle modification, or any vehicle repair, service, or replacement, and repair of defective parts other than RoadActive Suspension, Inc. defective parts, regardless of cause.
2. Any repair or replacement made necessary by any accident, breakdown, or failure of bolts, nuts, washers, or any other parts used to install the products, whether or not by RoadActive Suspension, Inc.
3. Unreasonable use, failure to install or maintain the product properly, modification of the product, or failure attributed to a defect in the vehicle, towing, fire, theft, environmental condition, or negligence, accidental or intentional damage or destruction.
4. Incidental or consequential damages, including but not limited to compensation for loss of use of the product or vehicle, inconvenience, lost profit, or any other direct or indirect loss.
Individual Components Policy
For liability and safety reasons, RoadActive Suspension, Inc. does not sell or distribute individual components of any RAS kit separately. Each RoadActive Suspension kit is designed, tested, and warrantied as a complete system. Replacing or modifying any component independently—including threaded rods, brackets, or hardware—may affect system integrity and void all warranty coverage. Replacement components are only available through approved warranty claims or complete kit purchases.
Non-Warranty Replacement Policy
In cases where damage occurs due to installation error, misuse, or other non-warranty causes, replacement components are available only through the purchase of a new complete RoadActive Suspension kit. Individual components are not sold separately for safety and compliance reasons.
Warranty Void Conditions
This warranty will be considered void if any part of the RoadActive Suspension kit is altered, modified, or installed incorrectly, or if the product is used in any way that differs from its intended purpose. Warranty coverage also becomes void if non-RAS components are substituted or used in conjunction with the system in a way that may affect performance or safety.
Third-Party Modifications
RoadActive Suspension, Inc. is not responsible for any issues or failures that result from the use of aftermarket components, vehicle modifications, or non-standard installations. The RAS system is designed to function only with stock vehicle configurations unless otherwise specified in writing by RoadActive Suspension, Inc.
Inspection Recommendation
As the installation and removal are not covered by this Warranty, we recommend that you inspect the installation of the RoadActive Suspension, Inc. kit to ensure that the product was installed safely and presents, beyond any reasonable doubt, no danger to any other part(s) of the vehicle such as brake lines, gas tank and lines, sewer lines, electrical wiring, or the chassis.
How to Obtain Service
To obtain warranty replacement parts or repair, RoadActive Suspension, Inc. must first be contacted by letter or telephone, providing your name, make, model, and year of vehicle, and evidence of date of installation. Written or verbal approval will be given to you by an authorized RoadActive Suspension, Inc. employee, and you must then return the part to be replaced or repaired—at our option—freight paid, to our warehouse. The replacement part will be shipped within fifteen (15) days following our receipt of the original part.
Be sure to obtain our approval before returning products to our warehouse. They will not be accepted until approval is obtained.
